The name Castillo de Canena comes from the family’s ancestral home—a Renaissance castle located in Canena, a town in Jaén. This region has a rich history dating back to the Arab tribe of Banu Kinana, who built the castle over the ruins of a Roman settlement. During the Reconquest, the military Order of Calatrava used the castle as a defensive fortress in the fight for Christianity.
