    Spring is a busy time for growers. The two busiest periods are spring and winter. Winter is the most important, as this is when the fruit is harvested for the subsequent production of extra virgin olive oil. In the case of the verdeo olive, harvesting is brought forward to autumn, around September. The other most important period is spring, when the olive trees must be pruned in order to rejuvenate them so that they bear more fruit. In addition, the grass must be removed and mowed to avoid strong competition for water between the weeds and the olive tree.<\/p>\n

    3. Care for olive tree in pot and in a garden<\/h3>\n

    For those of you who live in a city or urban area and have an olive tree in your garden, olive tree care will probably be more for aesthetic than productive purposes.\u00a0Weed control is also of some importance here, but not very important, as the gardens are usually watered and there are no major problems of competition between the olive tree and the other weeds, which in many cases are usually the lawn. What you do have to take into account is the excess of watering, as this brings diseases and can end up killing the olive tree. For this, I recommend leaving a space between the olive tree and the grass of one metre radius.<\/p>\n

    As for other tasks for the olive tree in the garden, pruning and thinning are very important. It is not worth taking the olives produced by your olive tree or olive trees to a cooperative or olive oil mill, as it will be more expensive to take them than what they give you for the oil, apart from the low production of oil that you will obtain.
